Why Don't More People Ride Indian Motorcycles?
I don 't ride so i am a total novice but i really like the looks of american bikes. that being said i have noticed you see almost no indian motorcycles on the road but plenty of harleys. why don 't more people ride indians? also, how are indians and harleys different mechanically? (Read answers)

The "new" Indian Motorcycle... Will It Survive?
Indianmotorcycle.com/ themotorcycles1/ chiefstandard/ chiefstandardspecifications/ tabid/ 154/ default.aspxwow, $31k for a new "base " model chief. i knew they were going to be high (i was expecting $20k out of the gates) as the website and owner had stated for new owners to expect a "premium price for a premium motorcycle ". however, i had my $1000 deposit refunded. i 'd love to own a chief again, but i don 't believe it 's worth $30k-plus. you can purchase a fully-loaded (and then some) bagger hd for that. i 'm going to wait to see how they do before i throw that much cash at one. my question to all, hd owners, sportbikers, etc.: have they priced themselves out of the market? are we going to watch them fold once again?i certainly hope they do well, for the sake of the name and the workers putting their sweat equity into the bikes, but i 'm already skeptical. thoughts?**edit** - stephen-- i don 't really see it as an issue of affordability. i see it as indian saying, "we 're better than hd/ bmw/ etc and we 're going to price our bikes that way. " it was a bold move (especially with high-dollar bike sales starting to fall), and i hope it pays off, but...**edit** - live to ski- yes, they are indeed beautiful. - i was on their new ceo 's email list for awhile, and he claims that they will start turning bikes out by xmas 2008. website mentions the same. we 'll see...**edit** - bluff - yep, i do indeed remember in the late 90s when excelsior-henderson tried to make a go of it. by the time they were done, they were liquidating parts (telling owners to "drive your truck up here and buy what you can, cheap! Any Idea What An Antique Indian Motorcycle Horn Is Worth?
I recently came across an original hendee maufacturing indian motorcycle horn from the 1940 's or later and am wondering what this might be worth. it still works and you can still make out all logos on the horn.i 've checked on ebay a couple times and have never been able to find something comparable to it. the problem is i have someone who wants to purchase from me but i have no idea what to even begin asking for it, but don 't wanting to get ripped off. Hello,i 'm an american student of indian origin here in mumbai, india for the summer.i noticed that i can buy a very good motorcycle for under rs 1 lakh (100,000 rupees), which is about $2500 us-- about half the price a similar motorcycle would be back home for me.i would like to buy and ship a motorcycle back to the us. how do i do so, and how much would it cost? could i end up saving money this way? additional detailsi 'm probably buying a japanese bike so that i can find parts for it in the us, anywhere from 250-500ccs. My brother found a 1926 indian motor after a little googling i beleive it to be a 101 scout combination. it cranks and has compression and it even has spark from the oringinal spark plug plus its got the 3-sped transmiison to boot! i was just wondering would it be worth anything? if so who much?
